Video: How to Cultivate a Healthy Gut Microbiome with Food

Food for gut health: Our gut flora is determined by what we eat, for good or for ill. An unhealthy intestinal biome is a major contributor to heart disease and other illnesses.

Michael Herschel Greger (b. 1972) is an American physician, author, and professional speaker on public health issues, best known for his advocacy of a whole-food, plant-based diet, and his opposition to animal-derived food products. While in college at Cornell University School of Agriculture, he was hired to work on mad cow issues for Farm Sanctuary, and became a vegan after touring a stockyard as part of his work on animal health. In 1998, he appeared as an expert witness when cattle producers unsuccessfully sued Oprah Winfrey for libel over statements she had made about the safety of meat in 1996. Greger graduated from Tufts University School of Medicine in 1999 as a general practitioner specializing in clinical nutrition.

Dr. Greger’s many books include The NY Times bestseller How Not to Die (Flatiron Books, 2015).

Dr. Greger has many videos on microbiome and gut health. Here are some of the most popular ones:

We are constantly told about the importance of gut health, but rarely are given actionable advice about what we should do. The information provided here is something we can use. Thanks.

I love this! I became vegan after reading Dr. Greger’s book, How Not to Die. The change has been profoundly wonderful. I was so inspired by him I wrote a cookbook for my friends.

Have been a vegetarian (not vegan) for 50 years, but some of this is still news to me….and pretty persuasive. Do I now need to give up my precious EGGS?!
