There is an epidemic of obesity in America, and diet plays an important role in our leading causes of death — heart disease, cancer, and diabetes. The public health institutions that should be educating the American public on these issues are actually in bed with the fast food industry. McDonald’s, Wendy’s, Coca Cola, and Hershey’s, among others, are underwriting research that “proves” their products are good for us.
