Israeli and Palestinian mothers, led by peace activists Yael Admi and Reem Al-Hajajreh, walked barefoot through the streets of Rome on March 24, 2026, in a powerful call for peace and protection of children amid the ongoing conflicts. Hundreds joined the “Barefoot Walk: Mothers’ Call for Peace,” marching from Ara Pacis to Pincio Terrace while singing and embracing. The activists demanded an end to violence, emphasizing that mothers everywhere want their children to live in dignity and safety. They met with Pope Leo on March 25.

I was gladdened and saddened to see the video and hope there will be more walks for peace like this one.

On one hand this is good but on the other hand, it is too little too late. I wish the women had come together during the first few months while Gaza was being bombed and decimated An incredible number of mothers and children were being killed on a daily basis and are still being killed in all of Palestine and Lebanon and . . . Why didn’t these women do anything for so long? Did they have to wait until Israel received a small taste of what they have been and are inflicting on others for so long?
