Friends, odd things have been happening with the Vox Populi website lately. For example, a notice for a post containing four poems by Philip Terman went out to subscribers today, but when readers clicked on the notice, there was no post because Terman’s poems are actually scheduled for March 28, two day from now. Similarly, a post containing one of my poems, which had been scheduled for March 8 but never appeared, showed up yesterday, March 25. And there have been other noticeable glitches — some of them my fault — as well.
I hope you will bear with me as I work to resolve these problems.
Thank you for your support!

Definitely noticed the Philip Terman glitch yesterday, but figured it was just that – a glitch. Happens to the best websites, of which this is one. As to the Michael Simms poem appearing on the wrong day, as far as I was concerned, it was exactly the right day.

A couple days ago I spent 2 hours on the phone with Apple and after 6 months of rebooting, my calendar no longer freezes my screen. Then my watch died and I had to get a new one. I am totally at their mercy and I used to head a microcomputer business ( and then I actually knew what I was talking about)

After writing this, I decided to google Huntington computing. There was an eBay ad wanting $15.50 for one of our old ads ( not a particularly good one) from 1981. And a few fake webpages. We live on!

Not to worry! We all have our technology bungles! I had a bad week last week with all the calendars refusing to sync. Missed all the calls.

Thanks, Kim. We really are slaves to our machines, aren’t we?

Without VP, I would probably stay in bed with the covers pulled over my head all day.

You are the best. Thank you for taking on the task of figuring out how to share meaningful work with the world. Thank you for being head curator, trouble shooter, fix-it person, encourager, responder and all around amazing human!

I had the same problems, and decided to wait, patiently, expecting the glitches to be just that, little glitches, and knowing all would go a bit smoother soon. SO SORRY this is causing trouble, dear Michael – and know that this ain’t chasing me away, no siree, for sure, nope, nada, non!

On the good side, I can now post comment. I used to get kicked out — or not even that. A circling circling circle, and then nothing. Maybe this has to do with me doing something differently on my end, but I don’t want to look too closely, lest I inspire the prankster ghosts in my machine to pay more attention to me. Thanks for your good efforts!

Thank you for the alert, Michael … I had been flummoxed by the “you can’t go there” message that popped up when I tried to access the Philip Terman post. Mischievous gremlins in the machine are most likely to blame! Speaking as an appreciative fan, I actually marvel at how well Vox Populi tends to function normally. I am sure most of us in the VP community will wait patiently for any tech glitches to be resolved. 🙏🏽

Thanks, Annie. VP has already lost over 200 (out of 20,000) subscribers over the last week, no doubt because of the glitches. I appreciate all of you who remain. —M

whoa! that strikes me as truly bizarre … I cannot picture unsubscribing unless Vox Populi did some highly improbable thing like, I dunno, talk about how wonderful 47 is. 😳

Oh alas! People need to be patient! Tech is created by humans . . . at least so far! It is subject to all the human flaws and failings. Thanks for the explanation and apology, Michael, but no need to apologize! All the best for getting rid of the gremlins!
