I had a kind of genius father. Apart from being a test pilot of those flying machines in 1911/12, he was many things, including a mathematician. One day I found him writing page after page of an endless equation. I asked him, “Dad what are you doing?” “Calculating how many planets are out there that support life as we would recognize it.” Young and angry me: “Well, and how many did you find?” “Leaving out the ones that are still too far behind in their development and those that are too far ahead for us to understand what that life is, I found 100 million square.” And he was a God-fearing man. Just sayin’

Max Planck, the great quantum physicist, believed that the universe itself is sentient. I think of humans as being like mushrooms sprouting up from a living biome we cannot see.

Yes, just recently they picked up on Max Planck’s idea again and said that everything, but EVERYTHING, is simply an expression of conscience.

Yep. Doesn’t seem we live in the middle of a three-layer-cake like I was taught as a kid.
