While I was learning to drive I managed to turn over my grandad’s Valiant and Airstream trailer in the middle of the desert when my dad told me to pass another car and trailer. We skidded on my brother’s surfboard and watched the widow crack in front of us. I heard words from dad I never heard before. There was some tv show on at the time that started with a window cracking the same way. The other car and trailer stopped and I remember crying my eyes out as the older woman from the car we passed held me.

I learned to drive mostly on rural roads in central Michigan–what a contrast to this wonderful video.

HA! I learned to drive on rural Texas roads… quite different than learning on the crowded streets of NYC.
