The shower hisses.
A soft roar and splatter.
My daughter bathes.
The house is warm and fragrant
With bacon, bread and coffee.
My friend Peter and I
Argued about love one time
Before he died.
I said it was basic and cited the experiment with molecules moving in water toward each other.
He said that only proved affinity.
But in this dark morning
I gaze across the parking lot
At the next building
Up into someone’s apartment.
I cannot see this person
Only as moving shape
But their light is on too.
Other days I‘ve seen a hand
Washing the window
Propinquity, Peter would say.
I say love.

Lovely closure to the poem.

I had to look up the word “propinquity”. It means closeness to somebody or something.

I did too! Poems are great teachers in new words and ideas, spiritual guides in more than way. “I say love” – over and over again.

And what I say is I love this poem—its whole idea of love. You are so right on Elizabeth. Friday Love! Perfect. Somebody at VP runs a good show.

Thanks, Sean. The magic is in the poems. I’m just the innkeeper.

About five years ago, Betsy sent me her full manuscript of poems and gave me permission to publish them in VP. Then she disappeared. I have no idea what’s happened to her.

They are letting me post things they would not have let me post before. If you want to ( big if) you might try again. I often post VP on Facebook.

Good point, Batbara. I also often post VP on FB without an issue from the gatekeeper bot.

I love this! I love the idea of seeing love in a hand washing a window. I love the idea that love can be everywhere and anywhere, if we pay attention to it, if we open ourselves to receive it. Thank you, Elizabeth.
