Video: A Swim Lesson

A SWIM LESSON is an ode to an everyday hero: Bill Marsh, a swim teacher who helps children manage their fears and discover their own power when submerged in an overwhelming unknown.

DIRECTED BY RASHIDA JONES & WILL MCCORMACK

Running time: 20 minutes

From LA Times: Watching a child learn how to swim is like witnessing a great opera. The maestro of this emotional orchestra is Bill Marsh. Swimming is the closest human beings will ever get to flying. And there is no greater joy (or fear) than watching your kid take the leap. Watching Bill teach kids how to swim is the parable we need, because inside his lessons are profound universal truths. For more about the film, click here.

I loved watching this. It was made with such care. I will share it with my family. There are moments of wisdom that Bill Marsh, the swim teacher, says: such as “You can’t get the treasures unless you face the dragon.” Thank you.

Thanks, William. I love this little film. In this scurvy world, we should look at the saints among us.
