Former first lady Michelle Obama spoke at a rally for Vice President Kamala Harris in Kalamazoo, Michigan on October 26, 2024.
This video was submitted by Vox Populi frequent contributor Gerald Fleming:
I think it’s important for everyone to see, if you haven’t already, Michelle Obama’s magnificent speech in Michigan last night. It’s a tour de force rhetorically, of course, and an extraordinary appearance for a woman who does not like politics. But it’s more than that. It’s a clarion call whose content is essential—especially, I think, in the segment about women to women and about women to men. It’s long, but only about half as long as the usual deranged ramblings of the despicable Trump in his stump speeches..
I think this speech should be shared as widely as possible: it’s surely to be looked at historically as one of the most important of its time.
A personal note: my dad served two stints—one drafted and one volunteer, in World War II, some of which was in the 101st Airborne.. He was a lifelong Republican. Voted for Eisenhower. Nixon. But I can hear the clatter of his bones as he turns over in his grave in knowing that this fascist Trump is representing Republicans and might indeed be elected. We know that history does repeat itself—albeit different time, place, milieu. For me, born just a breath after WWII, I’m still in a state of shock that the European/wider history of that period—yesterday, really!—might indeed come to pass here.

What a great lady! Wish she was running for President, I guess she’s too smart. Kamala Harris needs every vote and I hope she wins.

Oh yes! The new president will affect all of us. I’m just hoping it will be Kamala Harris and that she’ll stop providing us with weapons if the government doesn’t stop the war.
