What a lovely way to start the day for me, too watch those two friends so engaged, so delighted with nature and foraging — even climbing trees to collect mushrooms!

It’s a lovely little cinematic poem about two friends foraging in the woods.

Thank you Tony and Ajani, took me right back to mushrooming days with my parents and siblings, and we found a giant Puffball Mushroom once ! My Dad, in latter years, just identifying stuff on my woodland lawn, next minute it’s in the pan. Ever careful identification, but great fun.

That’s wonderful, Helen. Although I frequently forage leaves, flowers, roots and fruit, I’ve always been afraid of mushrooms. You inspire me!

That’s great Michael ! Dad, only ever stuck to the few he could clearly identify, although we did meet a guy who advised us once of a tasty mushroom variety he called ‘Chicken in the Wood’, a great delicacy that he and his wife went foraging for. At first, I imagined something lively, chicken shaped, but it is quite obviously a reference to texture, colour and, almost unbelievably, taste !
