When I asked myself about what I am grateful for this morning, I was surprised this electronic gadget looked back at me and I realized I am grateful for this connection—to poets and thinkers and dreamers all over the world. Thankful for the knowing of beauty and evil that comes with connection, but also for the connection with the warm fur of my old dog and the songs of birds outside in the big pine my son bought me when he was younger than his child is now.

Yes, I fear we’ve lost so much in our hurry to take the continent from the residents here. Eva and I are very aware that we live on this beautiful mountain which is unceded Shawnee land.
