Video: “Hope” by Emily Dickinson | A Film by Robert Isenberg

“Hope” is the thing with feathers -

That perches in the soul -

And sings the tune without the words -

And never stops - at all -

And sweetest - in the Gale - is heard -

And sore must be the storm -

That could abash the little Bird

That kept so many warm -

I’ve heard it in the chillest land -

And on the strangest Sea -

Yet - never - in Extremity,

It asked a crumb - of me.

“Hope” is the thing with feathers by Emily Dickinson.

The Archive Remix Film Festival provides an opportunity for local and international filmmakers to create unique 3-minute shorts using materials from the Rhode Island Historical Society’s Moving Image and Audio Collections (MIAC). For the 2021 festival, creators were provided access to over 300 minutes of footage from the 20th Century to select as (at least) 75% of the content of their short film. The first annual ARFF was held in September 2021, featuring three screenings in three locations across the state. Thank you. Perfect for sitting in Denver airport at 5 am watching people with masks pulled below their noses and hoping I won’t carry a virus to loved ones.

I know what you mean, Barbara. I think about the virus I’m carrying constantly.
