For Nahid
In spite of your aching body
Get up from your bed
And come to watch the river
Like that day when with your mate
We went to the Bridge of Choom.
.
Suddenly a part of the bridge fell.
We couldn’t go forward or backward
And left the car on the bridge.
We carried our bags to the grove,
Skewered meat and put it on the fire
Alongside a kettle of water.
.
After lunch and tea
We lay down on a rug
And listened to the passing water.
