SUMMER CEREMONY
The wedding tents are rising
on the manicured lawn
by the reedy marsh,
white silken canopies shining
against the scrub pine.
The bride hides inside
her flowered bedroom
lost in the reflecting pool
of a pine-framed mirror,
wondering if she should fly off
with the gray-washed gulls
who wait impatiently
at the edge of the blue bay.

PASSAGE
He who
took the steps
by two
now pauses
on each tread
and I
who love him so
am filled
with dread.

IN LAST LIGHT
In last light
seeking peace
the heart sings
no more things
no more things
