Small Town Tricks Neo-Nazi Marchers Into Raising Thousands Of Euros To Combat Extremism.
In preparation for an upcoming neo-Nazi march in the small Bavarian town of Wunsiedel, local residents decided to fight back in a hilariously perfect way: by sponsoring each of the 250 fascist participants. According to Heeb Magazine, “For every metre they walked, €10 went to a programme called EXIT Deutschland, which helps people escape extremist groups.”
The anti-semitic walkers didn’t figure out the town’s scheme until they had already started their march, and by that time, it was too late to turn back. The end result? The neo-Nazis raised more than $12,000 to fund programs to put an end to neo-Nazis.

Incredibly clever response to the presence of Nazis. Everyone should do it next time the al-right comes to town. Joggers often get sponsors for miles run to aid some charity. We could announce that we are seeking sponsors for our attendance at counter-protests. Say, one dollar a minute for time spent opposing the alt-right at their rally, extra for home-made signs verified by a selfie, extra if one leads chants, and extra bonus if Richard Spencer is there and you punch him. (Just kidding on that one as admission would mean you would be prosecuted.) On the other hand, if 100 people all claimed to the one who punched him, how would they prosecute? All proceeds to organizations active in anti-Nazi work and immigrant support work.

Mel, we should do a fund-raiser for the Merton Center using a similar tactic!
