Ruth Clark: Here in Hereford, The Counterfeit Nomad
Drunk, he was pulled from charger
Left impaled on bush and tree
Now lives near 15 deerhounds
With more respect than he.
Perpetual nomad, had he but been like Byron
With his commanding style
He could have moved with horses
In vast domicile.
Real nomads see all nature
And little do they ask.
But this nomad craves attention
And thus is often vexed.
