Video: Maya Angelou on Con Men

.

In this animated video produced by Blank on Blank studios, Maya Angelou tells a wonderful yarn about two con men who set up a white racist businessman to buy a toll bridge in Oklahoma. “The only way you can be a mark is if you want something for nothing. If you’re greedy, you’re set up,” she tells  Studs Terkel in a 1970 radio interview.

Maya Angelou’s words are always packed with deep and insightful wisdom well beyond the surface of what she is saying.

” These men were born before the turn of the century, what a Black man could be by 1915, his inability to function was crystalized. He simply had no where to move, and yet here are men who lived by that intelligence. Suppose, imagine if that intelligence had been able to be used constructively, that is more constructively for the common good.” Maya Angelou

You can construct a whole history on that quote…
