Produced for International Women’s Day 2018, this short film asks what is beauty?
From the Venus of Willendorf in 25,000 BC to Nicki Minaj in 2017 AD, how have women’s bodies been depicted in art and popular culture? Anna Ginsburg and her team of animators demonstrate how the ideal of feminine beauty has changed through history.
Starting from ancient sculpture and morphing seamlessly from figure to figure into modern day symbols such as Madonna and Kim Kardashian, the animation shows how the “ideal female body” has changed. With this historical perspective, Ginsburg has created a film that serves as a love letter to every woman’s body.
