Arlene Weiner: Song for Climate March

This planet’s mine, this planet’s yours.

From the melting icecaps to the flooding shores,

From bleaching coral to scorching deserts

This planet needs both you and me.

This planet isn’t ours to squander

There isn’t another in the blue yonder

Be a planet tender, kick the carbon bender

This planet needs both you and me.

If I could show you the planet Venus

You’d see the surface of a torrid greenhouse

No fish can swim there, no bird can fly there

That planet’s not for you and me.

People, take action

Against coal extraction

Against stack emissions

And lax permissions

Against sweetheart oil deals

That benefit big wheels

And spoil the earth for you and me.

And let’s all try it

A low-carb diet

To keep the planet safe for you and me.

Hey, Arlene, nice work. I just played it through to the tune of “This Land Is Your Land,” as I assume you intended, and it works perfectly!

Nice work Arlene, and indisputable facts for politicians (and everyone) to deal with.
