Amy Winehouse was an English singer and songwriter known for her deep expressive vocals and her eclectic mix of musical genres; however, her battles with drug and alcohol abuse were the subject of much media attention and often distracted the public from her accomplishments as a performer.Winehouse died of alcohol poisoning on 23 July 2011, aged 27. The BBC has called her “the pre-eminent vocal talent of her generation.”
