This four-minute documentary revolves around a letter written in the future to society today. The narrator tells us, the stranger, how things went right. Society gathered with a fundamental belief that the “purpose of the economic system is to improve the well-being for all within the limits of what the planet can sustain … We had to deal with overconsumption first. The prices we paid for things had to reflect the social and environmental costs…”

Born in Lisbon in 1979, Gonçalo Tocha graduated at the Faculty of Humanities in Lisbon where he founded the cine-club NuCiVo. BALAOU (2007) was his debut feature film, selected at the Viennale and Bafici followed by IT’S THE EARTH NOT THE MOON, awarded in Locarno, Doclisboa, BAFICI, San Francisco… His feature documentary THE MOTHER AND THE SEA was presented at Rome FF and CPH:DOX. THE TRAIL OF A TALE, a four minute documentary, won first place in the 18-35 age category in the Action4Climate documentary competition.
