How We Rate
Our Evaluation Philosophy
Rating a sportsbook properly takes more than a quick sign-up and a glance at the homepage. Our editors are experienced analysts in the online sports betting space, and we apply a structured, repeatable process to every platform we review so bettors get consistent, trustworthy comparisons across the board.
We hold ourselves to a few core values: fairness in how we judge each platform, transparency about how we reach our conclusions, accuracy in the details we publish, and a consistent focus on what actually matters to the bettor placing the wager, not just what looks good in a press release.
What We Actually Look At
Odds Quality We compare a sportsbook’s odds against market averages across major sports to see whether it consistently offers competitive pricing. Even small differences in odds add up significantly over the course of a betting year, so this is one of the first things we examine.
Market Range We look at how many sports and bet types a sportsbook covers, from mainstream markets like the NFL and NBA to niche leagues and prop bets. A wider, deeper market range generally signals a more mature, bettor-focused platform.
Live Betting In-play wagering has become central to how many Americans bet. We test how quickly odds update during live action, how smooth the interface feels under pressure, and whether markets stay available deep into games.
Promotions We read the fine print on welcome offers, odds boosts, and ongoing promotions. We’re specifically looking for realistic wagering requirements and terms that don’t quietly work against the bettor.
Cash-Out Options Withdrawal speed and reliability matter enormously to bettors, so we evaluate how quickly funds are typically processed, what methods are supported, and whether any hidden friction slows the process down.
Mobile Experience Most US bettors now wager primarily through mobile apps. We test app stability, navigation, bet placement speed, and overall usability on both iOS and Android.
Licensing We verify that a sportsbook holds a legitimate license in the states where it operates. This is non-negotiable. Any platform operating outside proper regulatory frameworks is excluded from our recommendations entirely, regardless of how it performs elsewhere.
How the Process Works
Each sportsbook is assessed against this same set of criteria, which keeps our reviews consistent rather than subjective. Our team signs up, deposits, places real bets, tests live markets, and requests withdrawals as part of the review process. We don’t rely solely on marketing materials or press releases.
Editorial Independence and Honesty
We earn revenue through affiliate partnerships with some sportsbooks featured on our site. We’re upfront about that. What we won’t do is let those partnerships dictate a rating. A sportsbook with a strong affiliate relationship gets the same scrutiny as one without any commercial connection to us at all.
If a platform falls short on licensing, treats customers poorly, or misrepresents its terms, we say so plainly. Our commitment is to the bettor reading the review, not to any single operator.
Staying Current
Sportsbooks change constantly. Odds structures shift, promotions expire, and new features roll out. We revisit our reviews and ratings regularly to make sure the information we publish still reflects how each platform actually performs today, not how it performed when we first reviewed it.
