Gauri Adelkar is a screenwriter and director based in the San Francisco Bay Area. Born and raised in India, she is a former electrical engineer, and received her MFA in screenwriting & directing at Columbia University, where she was the 2018 recipient of the Breaking Barriers Award.
Adelkar’s work has been recognized with a 2022 HBO Max APA Visionaries Award, a BAFTA student film award shortlist, and screened globally at several reputed film festivals. Her most recent short, ‘THE GIFT’ recently premiered on HBO and HBO Max.
She is a 2021 writing mentee to Chitra Sampath (TRUTH BE TOLD, SOUTHLAND) as part of the inaugural SALON MENTORSHIP PROGRAM, which supports the next generation of South Asian creatives in Hollywood. In 2020, she was the only participant selected by FILM INDEPENDENT as a Writer/Director Project Involve fellow and a finalist for Tribeca’s THROUGH HER LENS program.
Adelkar is currently in development for a commissioned feature and a TV show.
