They fight over my body
as if it contains precious minerals.
The breasts are valuable
for science conferences,
The bones a mystery
of swirls and manners,
talking in tongues
for the listeners.
The hands are a special joy
.
for cartoonists and children.
They shadow paint the nursery
and write grocery lists.
.
You know you are not in charge
of your body any more
despite its joyous odes
and incantations.
There is a sign on each body part
with the name of a creditor.

Always love the way my morning start with Vox Populi…thank you. These last lines from Carolyn Holmes Gregory’s, The Body? “There is a sign on each body part / with the name of a creditor” Wow.
Thanks for this and all you do for writers….for humans.
