Dear Friends,
Please forgive this blatant self-promotion, but I want to share with you a link to a review of my new collection of poems American Ash in the highly regarded and popular magazine Cultural Weekly, curated by Alexis Rhone Fancher. Alexandra Umlas writes:
The final poem of Michael Simms’s recent book of poetry, American Ash, ends with the lines “… and everything is / Beautiful as you feel yourself / Floating over the city and you wish / The story didn’t have to end” (79). Simms is talking about getting old, but this was also exactly my sentiment as I finished reading— I wanted the book to go on and on. Luckily [Click here to continue reading…]
The issue also includes two of my poems.

Thank you for your continued support for Vox Populi!

Michael Simms
That’s a shimmering dotage, Michael. Congrats! Can’t wait to read

I’m with George: any poet would kill for this kind of reader and this kind of review. “American Ash” is sitting here, in a pile of books in my little home office in Sydney. I might have to move it to the top of the pile!!!!

George

As Michael knows, I am no lover of poetry (not a hater either, so relax) but I bought his book and read it in one sitting cover to cover, poem to poem, insight to insight, finding beauty, sorrow, and love within. Do yourself a favor, buy it, read it, let it enrich your life.
