After the hurricane, the deluge
of drops and days, we wondered
if it might happen again,
if the cerise and ocher blue
would collage the sky taupe/black,
could crack and turn
the heavens and clouds
askew, and on their side.
We pondered at the cause—
what was true,
what right,
and if either might
ever refract and bend
to a single speck,
or single beacon of light.
