In this brief excerpt from a recent interview, the renowned public intellectual Noam Chomsky answers the question: Where in history are we now?
According to Chomsky, climate change and nuclear war pose dual threats, a perfect storm of forces that will end our civilization unless we take steps to contain them. During the neoliberal era in the West, which ended with the election of Donald Trump, we constructed a political balance that promised to contain these deadly forces. Unless we re-establish this balance, we are looking at the end of life as we know it.
