Vox Populi: A Public Sphere for Politics and Poetry

Michael Simms: President Donald Trump

My countrymen, what have you done? You’ve elected as your leader a man who despises you; who has no respect for law or custom or simple decency; a small vulgar man who cannot possibly know what is required of him; a man who knows nothing of art or history or science or ethics; and whose only skill is self-promotion. You made him your leader because he promised to make you great again, but he has no idea how to fulfill his promise, and he will bring you to ruin.

It’s difficult to get the government we deserve when the FBI throws the election to the victor and when the popular vote doesn’t govern the election.

Copied my comment to another post today:

in a democracy, people get the government they deserve. If one does not exercise democratic rights, no point crying wold afterwards.

Hitler came to power democratically, lest we forget.
