Not okay — Millions of women share grisley stories of sexual assault.
Amidst the uproar over the latest bile spewing from the blowhole of the Orange Vulgarian, Canadian writer Kelly Oxford went online to describe her first sexual assault – out of five – and to call on women to recount theirs under the hashtag #NotOkay. She received almost 10 million short pained narratives in just 14 hours, or roughly 50 every minute. Many described abuse or assault that occurred when the women were minors; more than a few said they couldn’t remember their first, only their worst. “Anyone denying rape culture,” Oxford grimly notes, “look at my timeline now.” And anyone denying that Trump is the awful culmination of an awful party that has long opted “for the despicable in domestic politics and for the barbaric overseas,” look here. Not surprised: the women’s collective Feminist Fight Club, who recently published a survival manual for sexist workplaces. In honor of the ever-vile Trump, they issued a new meme: Pussy Grabs Back Nov. 8.
“Old man on city bus grabs my ‘pussy’ and smiles at me. I’m 12.” – Oxford’s first sexual assault.
The Trump women and their strategically placed hands.
