It only takes one really
good lie
to get the truth off your back.
Just insist, for instance, that
the Earth
is merely an over-elaborate metaphor.
Just insist, for instance, that before
the Goddess
we were immortal and all this is a muddled dream.
Just insist, for instance, that
true freedom
is found only in flagrant falsehood.
Just do that, and they won’t
argue much,
but will sputter and fume and leave you alone.
Just lie, and stick to it,
and physics,
responsibility, even fact, can take no hold.

I think Timons just said that it’s easier to get through life by lying or at least more peaceful than trying to get people to believe the truth.
