Bokar Rinpoche: Friendship

Like birds landing on a tree top together

and then dispersing,

we are together for a very short time.

Therefore, it makes sense to live in harmony

in unconditional friendship.

A well known meditation master of the Shangpa Kagyu and Karma Kagyu schools, Bokar Rinpoche was born in Western Tibet and lived for many years in Sonada, not far from Darjeeling. Apart from his many Tibetan students, Bokar Rinpoche had many Western students as well and traveled the world frequently. This poem is quoted in The Great Middle Way.
