Audio: Charlie Parker Reboppers perform “Billie’s Bounce”

The Charlie Parker Reboppers made this recording November 26, 1945 at WOR Studios on Broadway in New York City. Performers include Miles Davis on trumpet, Charlie Parker on alto sax, Dizzy Gillespie on piano, Curly Russell on bass, and Max Roach on drums.

Saxophonist and composer Charles “Yardbird” Parker (August 29, 1920 – March 12, 1955) gained wide recognition for the complex rhythms of his brilliant solos and innovative improvisations. He was, without a doubt, one of the most influential and talented musicians of the twentieth century.
